Neil Young’s old house in Topanga Canyon.
This is an unbelievably cool piece of property. I met the guy that lives there now and he let me come around back and take some pictures.
This is the house Neil lived in from the late 1960s until buying his current place at Broken Arrow Ranch in the early seventies. It was at this house in Topanga that Neil would bring Nils Lofgren, Jack Nitzschze, Greg Reeves and Ralph Molina, into the smallest room of the house (the basement), to record the classic album ‘After the Gold Rush’.
The third and fourth pictures are both shots of the former basement recording studio. Interestingly, it was also where the guy I met lived. He told me he rented out the room from the people who own the place. Coolest single bedroom sublet I have ever seen.
